Radiant is a French "manfra" series written and illustrated by Tony Valente, published by Ankama since 2013 with 19 volumes available in French as of November 2024. It holds the distinction of being the first manfra to be published in Japan, released by Asukashinsha in 2015. In a world of floating islands, a horned teenager named Seth is publicly known as an "infected"—a sorcerer who survived contact with the monstrous Nemeses that fall from the sky. While feared by the public, he secretly hunts these very creatures, driven by a grander ambition: to locate the Nemeses' mythical source, the Radiant, and eradicate it. His daily life is a precarious balance between controlling his immense power under the strict tutelage of his guardian, Alma, and the complications that arise from a world where magic users are distrusted. This fragile existence is threatened by the reappearance of a figure from his past, an Inquisitor, whose presence signals impending conflict for the young sorcerer.
